Snag has raised $4 million in a Seed round led by Slow Ventures. Precursor Ventures, Long Journey Ventures and Chamaeleon participated, along with angel investors Sloane Stephens and Brian Kelly.
The startup is based in Brooklyn, New York. Selin Sonmez and Nikolas Georgantas founded it in 2025 to connect renters directly with verified sublets and lease takeovers.
Snag’s AI-powered platform plugs into residential real estate registries to pull in leasing contracts and run background verification on them, which removes the usual broker overhead. It relies on algorithmic listing verification, automated document handling and secure application matching to operate a secondary marketplace for residential leases.
For tenants who need to leave early, that means a way to hand off an active apartment. For incoming renters, it offers fast access to verified short-term housing that sits outside traditional listings.
The company plans to use the new capital to grow its engineering and data operations teams, scale its automated inventory verification and speed up user acquisition across major metropolitan rental markets.
Property tech vendors, moving companies and insurance providers that serve renters can reach founders at newly funded proptech startups each week through B2B SaaS Leads.
