General Catalyst and Nexus Back Sol’s $4M Email AI

Sol, the product of Sol Foundry Inc., has come out of stealth with $4 million in Seed round funding. General Catalyst, Nexus Venture Partners, DeVC, Peercheque and Kunal Shah backed the company.
Sol is based in San Francisco. It has built a proactive AI assistant around a simple idea: once you have said in an email that you will do something, software should start doing it without waiting for a prompt.
Sol scans Gmail for the commitments people make all day, such as sending an analysis, sharing a proposal or setting up a meeting. It then gets the work moving, whether that means research, creating documents, building slides, scheduling time or drafting replies. The user keeps final approval before anything is sent, scheduled or shared.
The product is aimed at people whose work runs through heavy email volume, including founders, executives and professionals in sales, marketing, consulting, recruiting and agencies. To handle multistep jobs, Sol runs in its own computer environment, can use a browser and draws on a library of more than 100 specialist skills.
In practice, a promise to send a deck for a leadership meeting can turn into a finished deck waiting for review. A request for agreements can lead Sol to find past contracts and prepare new ones. A note about meeting a colleague can prompt it to check calendars and suggest open slots.
Anish Karan, Prateek Srivastava and Ranjith Nair founded the company, and Karan serves as CEO. Sol is available now through selective access and a waitlist, with general access planned soon.
If you sell tools or services to AI software startups, you can get verified founder contacts at newly funded companies every week through B2B SaaS Leads.
