Rivet has raised $10.5 million in Seed round funding from Peak XV Partners, Shine Capital and Blume Ventures. The dating network launched nationwide across the United States on September 24, 2026.
Rivet is a product of MeantToBe, Inc., which is based in New York. Founder and CEO Taru Kapoor spent nearly a decade building and scaling Tinder and other Match Group brands across the U.S., Europe and Asia before starting the company in 2025.
The core idea is what Rivet calls Social Matching. Instead of relying only on swipes or an algorithm, the app lets people help each other find matches. Members can join to look for a partner, or simply sign up as Matchers who weigh in on potential pairs and recommend introductions they think could work. Pairs with high Social Matching scores get introduced, and each person decides independently whether to match and start talking.
Rivet is positioning this as a fresh take on online dating, where people vibe-check potential pairs before any introduction happens. The individual always has the final say on whether to view and accept an introduction. The platform runs on a give-to-get model, with Matchers helping one another and playing an active part in other people’s love lives.
The company also commissioned a national survey of 2,013 U.S. adults. More than two-thirds of Gen Z and Millennial respondents, 68%, said they would be interested in helping someone they do not personally know find a romantic match if they could stay anonymous and the other person made the final decision. That included 78% of Gen Z and 60% of Millennials. The top reasons given were helping someone find love, at 36%, and helping someone avoid a bad match, at 27%.
Former Tinder and OkCupid CEO Elie Seidman is an early investor and advised Kapoor throughout Rivet’s development.
