Walden Robotics came out of stealth on July 15, 2026 with $300 million in a Seed round that values the Cambridge, Massachusetts company at $1.1 billion. Toyota and Deviation Capital co-led the financing, with NVIDIA, Boeing and other investors participating.
The company spun out of Toyota Research Institute in January 2026. It builds its own hardware, software and AI models for general purpose robots designed to keep learning and improving while they work in live environments.
Its technology rests on a decade of foundational AI and robotics research, including Diffusion Policy and Large Behavior Models, the frontier model class that powers the robots.
Walden puts its machines into production settings in manufacturing and logistics, working alongside people from the first day. Since February its general purpose robots have been doing useful work at a Toyota plant in North America, a move from first pilot to real production work in under two months.
