TidalSense, an AI respiratory diagnostics company based in Cambridge, England, has raised a seed round of 16.6 million euros, worth about $19 million, to bring its breath-based lung test to more patients. Cross-Border Impact Ventures came in as a new investor, joined by returning backers BGF, Airstream Capital, and Foresight Group. The company announced the round in July 2026.

The raise brings TidalSense’s total funding to 35.1 million euros, roughly $40 million, a figure that includes about 9.6 million euros in grant support from Innovate UK, SBRI, NIHR, and Asthma-Lung UK.

The company’s device, N-Tidal Diagnose, asks patients to breathe normally into a handheld unit for 75 seconds. That captures a carbon dioxide waveform, known as a capnogram, which a set of AI models then analyses to detect chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. The models have been trained on more than 2.5 million patient breaths.

In the first post-market validation of the device, presented at the European Respiratory Society Congress in 2025 and run on a completely unseen group of patients, N-Tidal Diagnose scored above 90 percent across all key measures of diagnostic accuracy. TidalSense plans to use the new capital to speed up commercialisation in the UK and to expand the technology internationally, including into the United States.
