SkyPilot, an AI infrastructure company based in San Francisco, California, has come out of stealth with a $20 million seed round. Lux Capital led the financing, which the company announced on July 21, 2026.
The round drew a deep bench of investors, including Amplify Partners, Coatue Management, Foundation Capital, Race Capital, and The House Fund, along with technology operators such as Ali Ghodsi of Databricks, Jeff Dean of Google, Guillermo Rauch of Vercel, Amjad Masad of Replit, Clem Delangue of Hugging Face, and Tristan Handy of dbt Labs.
The SkyPilot Platform gives frontier AI teams a single way to manage compute across hyperscalers, neoclouds, Kubernetes clusters, and different accelerator types. The aim is to turn a fragmented mix of clouds, clusters, and chips into one unified AI supercomputer.
SkyPilot was founded by Berkeley researchers Zongheng Yang, Zhanghao Wu, and Romil Bhardwaj, alongside Databricks co-founder Ion Stoica and cloud computing pioneer Scott Shenker, both professors at Berkeley. Hundreds of organizations already use the platform, including Nubank, Abridge, Applied Compute, and H Company.
