Recess, a kids’ activities marketplace based in Austin, Texas, is expanding into Dallas and Houston on the back of more than $4 million in venture funding. The company shared the news in June 2026.

The Seed backing came from investors including Baukunst, Wave Capital, Swizzle Ventures, and Laura Modi, founder and CEO of Bobbie and a TIME Women of the Year honoree.

Founded in 2024 by Amy Kiska, who serves as CEO, and Molly Morse, who serves as COO, Recess set out to fix one of the most common headaches in modern family life: finding trusted activities that fit a child’s interests, schedule, and needs. The two founders, both moms, had experienced firsthand how painful and fragmented summer camp booking can be.

The platform makes it easier for parents to discover and book children’s enrichment options in a market where families have traditionally juggled multiple websites, emails, and spreadsheets. Recess is currently live in Austin, Dallas, and Houston, with plans to expand nationwide.
