BoomerangHR has closed a $12.7 million Seed round to expand its AI-powered offboarding and corporate alumni platform. Kalos Ventures and Album Ventures led the round, with Monta Vista Capital, Capital Eleven, and Strada Education Foundation participating.
The New York City company is aiming at a talent market where trustworthy candidate signals are getting harder to find. Gartner projects that one in four candidate profiles will be fake by 2028 because of generative AI, which turns verification into an expensive bottleneck for recruiting teams. Meanwhile ADP data shows returning boomerang workers already make up roughly one-third of all new hires, and they arrive with proven cultural fit, faster onboarding, and lower acquisition costs.
Founded by CEO Jeff Wald, the HR tech company is trying to give ordinary employers the kind of structured alumni network that has historically belonged to elite consulting firms and investment banks. The argument is simple enough: a company’s relationship with good people should not end the day they leave, and former employees can become a source of warm rehires, referrals, and sales leads.
The platform connects to existing HRIS and ATS systems in under an hour and covers three areas. Automated offboarding handles compliance, COBRA notifications, 401(k) rollovers, equipment retrieval, and structured exit interviews. Alumni network management centralizes verified profiles, matches former staff to open roles automatically, and runs targeted re-engagement campaigns. Talent migration and reporting tracks where alumni go next, flags rehire or business development signals, and automates non-compete tracking.
Two former chief people officers weighed in on the approach. Marissa Andrada, formerly of Chipotle, pointed to offboarding with care creating lasting ambassadors. Jose Tomas, previously CHRO at General Motors and Burger King, focused on the compliance side being handled without adding work to already stretched HR teams.
Warby Parker is among the enterprise customers using the platform to manage talent movement across distributed retail, customer care, and corporate teams.
Ashley Bittner, managing partner at Kalos Ventures, cited a multi-time venture-backed founding team, an AI-native product, deployment across hundreds of companies representing millions of alumni, and HR advisors who have run people organizations at scale.
Staffing firms and recruiters selling into corporate talent teams can get verified contacts at newly funded companies every week through Recruitment Leads.
