Leal Therapeutics announced a second close of its Series A financing on August 17, 2026, adding another $30 million to the round.

Eli Lilly and Company came in as a new investor. Existing backers OrbiMed, Newpath Partners, Euclidean Capital, the Dementia Discovery Fund at SV Health Investors, Chugai Venture Fund, Alexandria Venture Investments and PhiFund all returned.

Leal is a clinical stage biotech working on treatments for disorders of the central nervous system, with a focus on neuro metabolic therapies aimed at neurodegenerative and neuropsychiatric conditions that have few good options today. The company launched in 2021 and is headquartered in Worcester.

Money from the second closing is earmarked for two programs. LTX-001 will be pushed through an initial readout of its Phase 1b/2a clinical trial in patients with schizophrenia. LTX-002 will move through additional dosing cohorts in an ongoing Phase 1/2 trial in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.

The Worcester site puts Leal in Massachusetts, where the company has been based since it launched.
