TravelX has closed its Series A after taking a substantial but undisclosed investment from Kaszek, with Thayer Ventures also participating. The deal lifts total funding at the company to $45 million and marks the first time Kaszek has put money into aviation technology.
The travel technology company is headquartered in Miami, with additional offices in Buenos Aires, Madrid and Melbourne. Sitting in Florida places it between the United States, Latin America and other major aviation markets.
Airlines have historically treated a completed booking as the end of a transaction. TravelX argues it should be the start of another one. Its platform reads changing demand, customer behavior and operational conditions after a reservation is made, which can let a carrier resell inventory, hand passengers more flexibility, or pull additional value out of seats that would otherwise stay locked into their original sale.
The company first drew notice for putting airline tickets on a blockchain and raised a $10 million seed round in 2022. The pitch has since shifted toward AI driven post booking revenue management. Carriers working with TravelX now include Viva, Volaris, AirAsia, WestJet, GOL, Scoot and Cebu Pacific.
New capital will go toward product development, expanding the artificial intelligence platform and growing the commercial team globally. Whether dynamic inventory holds up inside the mess of daily aviation operations is the question those carrier relationships will answer.
