Buildcheck AI, Inc., which uses computer vision to review construction drawings for errors before work begins, has raised $12 million in Series A funding. The San Francisco, California company announced the round on September 9, 2026.
Telescope Partners led the Series A. WND Ventures, the corporate venture arm of DPR Construction, joined, and existing investors Uncork Capital, Salt VC, and Xfund followed on. The round arrives just nine months after Buildcheck’s $5.9 million seed and brings total funding to $18 million.
Design errors cost the $13 trillion construction industry more than $200 billion a year, and they are cheapest to fix in the drawings, which is also where they are hardest to spot. Buildcheck’s proprietary computer vision models, developed by co-founder and CTO Alex Gureiev, read blueprints and run hundreds of automated checks that flag the errors, omissions, and coordination conflicts human reviewers overlook. Since last year the company has grown more than fourfold to over 110 paying customers, who report 10 to 35 times return on investment across data centers, hospitals, multifamily buildings, commercial developments, and tenant improvements. Customers include DPR Construction, EllisDon, Power Construction Company, EMJ Construction, and IMC Construction. Buildcheck says it has analyzed more than 150,000 sheets.
The new capital will fund expansion within and across general contractors, developers, and design firms, along with four product extensions that move the platform from running checks to full design review. Custom Checks turns a company’s own QA/QC manuals and internal standards into review agents that enforce those rules on every drawing set and revision. Diffs shows what actually changed between revisions, visually and in plain language, filtered to ignore the noise that overlay tools produce when a drawing shifts by a centimeter. Code Reviews and Value Engineering modules look for regulatory problems that can stall a project and design changes that make a project financially viable; both are in beta for customers in the United States and Canada.
Buildcheck was founded at Stanford University by Alexander Michalatos, who serves as CEO, Andrei Molchynsky, and Alex Gureiev.
