Gritt Raises $26M Series A for AI Construction Robots

Gritt, a San Francisco, California company building physical AI for outdoor construction, has raised a $26 million Series A. Obvious Ventures led the round, which the company announced as it stepped out of stealth.

Union Square Ventures and Active Impact Investments joined the financing, along with continued support from earlier backers First Round Capital, Climactic, Congruent Ventures, and VSC Ventures. Combined with an earlier pre-seed round, the raise brings Gritt’s total funding to $32.4 million.

The company pairs robotics with AI to take on the labor-intensive work of building infrastructure. Rather than sell standalone machines, Gritt deploys its technology as attachments that fit onto equipment already found on construction sites. Those systems then handle heavy tasks autonomously, along with verification and planning, with early work focused on speeding up the buildout of solar farms.

Gritt is led by chief executive Puneet Puri and chief technology officer Vishal Dugar. The team plans to put the new money toward expanding operations and pushing its development work further.
