Hinge Founder Raises $18M Seed for Overtone Matchmaking App

Overtone, a modern matchmaking company based in New York, announced an $18 million Seed round on July 14, 2026. FirstMark Capital, Pace Capital and Match Group took part in the financing.
Justin McLeod, the creator of Hinge, founded the company. Overtone is building a voice and audio forward service, enabled by AI, that delivers highly curated introductions grounded in relationship science.
The service is not yet open to the public. It is expected to become available in select locations by the end of the year.
Psychotherapist and New York Times bestselling author Esther Perel has joined the board of directors. She is joined by Diana Chapman, an executive leadership advisor and founder of The Signal Institute, and Spencer Rascoff, chief executive of Match Group. McLeod serves as chairman as well as chief executive.
