Gaussion, a deep tech company based in London, United Kingdom, has raised £21 million in a Series A round to advance its battery technology. The financing was led by UK investors AlbionVC and BGF, with participation from Future Ventures, Autotech Ventures, the UCL Technology Fund, and DN Capital.
The round brings total capital raised to more than $44 million since Gaussion was founded in 2022 as a spinout from University College London and the Faraday Institution. Future Ventures, led by early SpaceX and Tesla investor Steve Jurvetson, becomes the second early Tesla backer connected to the company, alongside board member Simon Rothman.
Gaussion has built a magnetic battery system called MagLiB, along with a smart control chip and software platform named Aeon. Together they are designed to improve the performance and lifespan of lithium ion batteries without changing their chemistry, allowing faster charging and better power management.
The company sees uses for the technology across electric vehicles, drones, and data centers, and plans to put the new money toward scaling that work.
