Endurance Energy Raises $54M Series A for Seafloor Geothermal

Endurance Energy has raised $54 million in Series A funding to pursue an unusual source of power, namely heat drawn from undersea volcanoes. The Seattle, Washington startup is building generators designed to tap geothermal energy deep on the ocean floor.

The round, announced on June 11, 2026, was led by Founders Fund. New backers Felicis, Voyager Ventures, Riot Ventures and Construct Capital joined the round, along with returning investors Point72 Ventures, First Round Capital and Ascend. The company has grown quickly since its founding last year, expanding to 25 employees, twelve of whom previously worked at SpaceX.

Endurance Energy’s ambition is large. The company wants to eventually harness terawatts of geothermal energy from beneath the ocean, a resource that has gone largely untapped because of the engineering difficulty of operating at such depths. By building power plants offshore that draw on the heat of undersea volcanoes, Endurance is targeting a form of clean baseload energy that does not depend on weather or daylight.

The timing reflects a broader surge in energy demand. The company points to growing consumption from AI data centers, electric vehicles and heavy industry, all of which are straining existing power supplies. The new funding will allow Endurance to develop its plans for offshore power plants as those pressures mount.

The SpaceX connection is more than a talking point. Building hardware that can operate reliably in extreme environments is exactly the kind of challenge that team is accustomed to, and applying that experience to the deep sea is central to the company’s pitch. With $54 million in hand, Endurance Energy now has the capital to move from concept toward proving that volcanic heat beneath the ocean can become a practical source of power.
