Emerald AI has closed an oversubscribed Series A of $150 million at a valuation of $1.05 billion, co-led by Energize Capital and DCVC. The round pushes the company’s total raised past $220 million.

The company operates out of Washington, D.C., and its work sits at the intersection of two industries that have not historically had much to say to each other: computing and electric power. Its premise is that a data center does not have to behave as a fixed load, drawing roughly the same electricity no matter what the grid is doing.

The investor list for this round is unusually long and unusually strategic. NVIDIA, Samsung Ventures, Siemens, Aramco Ventures, Salesforce Ventures, GE Vernova, RWE, JERA Ventures, ADVentures, Sabanci Climate Ventures, In-Q-Tel, Radical Ventures, Energy Impact Partners, Lowercarbon Capital, Marunouchi Innovation Partners, Emerson Collective, The Olayan Group, the Temerty Group, John Doerr, Tom Steyer, Earthshot Ventures, Collective Global and General Catalyst’s scout fund all took part. Twelve Fortune Global 500 companies now sit among the company’s investors and Strategic Advisory Board participants.

The product is a software platform called Emerald Conductor. It coordinates AI computing workloads alongside onsite energy resources so a facility can dial its power consumption up or down when the electric grid comes under stress, reducing or shifting demand without interrupting critical jobs.

The reasoning behind that design is straightforward enough. Electricity is turning into one of the main constraints on building new AI infrastructure, and new transmission, generation and grid capacity takes years to bring online while data center consumption is projected to account for a meaningful share of U.S. demand growth through 2030. Emerald AI estimates that applying flexible load technology across the buildout could open up more than 100 GW of capacity that already exists on the U.S. grid but goes unused, and that this capacity could arrive years ahead of any equivalent amount of new generation and transmission.

Before this round, the company ran five demonstrations at commercial data centers in Arizona, Illinois, Virginia, Oregon and London, working alongside NVIDIA, EPRI, Oracle, Nebius and National Grid as well as regional utilities and grid operators. It has since moved into commercial deployment, recently rolling out its technology across an entire California data center and showing grid responsive flexibility during peak demand. A separate effort with Silicon Valley Power, described by both parties as a first of its kind Flexible Load Interconnection Program, gives data centers expanded grid access in exchange for verified and dispatchable flexibility when the system needs relief.

A larger project is under construction in Manassas, Virginia, where Emerald AI is working with Digital Realty and NVIDIA on a nearly 100 MW Vera Rubin AI Research Factory built as a power flexible facility. That site has been tested with EPRI, Dominion and PJM Interconnection and is expected to come online later this year, with additional large scale deployments planned through the rest of 2026.

The new capital goes toward expanding commercial deployments globally, serving customers across electric utilities, AI companies and global data center operators. Teams selling into fast growing companies of this kind can source verified decision maker contacts through B2B software lead generation built around newly funded rounds.
