Aqua, an alternatives infrastructure provider based in New City, New York, has launched what it calls the industry’s first turnkey alternative investments platform, or TAIP, and disclosed $18.8 million in total funding to support the rollout. The announcement came on September 9, 2026.

The money arrived in two stages. A $3.8 million seed round was backed by Google’s AI Fund, Y Combinator, and other investors. That was followed by a $15 million Series A led by Arthur Ventures, with Alumni Ventures participating.

Aqua plans to use the capital to speed up business and platform development, expand its engineering and partnership teams, and deepen integrations with custodians and fund sponsors.

The platform is aimed at wealth managers, RIAs, banks, trust companies, and fund sponsors that want to build, operate, and grow institutional-grade alternatives programs. It is meant to replace the patchwork of marketplaces, manual processes, and spreadsheets many firms rely on today, combining fund creation, operational workflows, investment lifecycle management, marketplace access, document intelligence, and investor servicing in one environment. The idea is that firms can set their own alternatives strategy and scale it at whatever pace suits them.

Aqua frames the launch as a response to a shift in the alternatives market. The first phase of growth was mostly about widening access. The next, the company argues, depends on infrastructure that lets firms manage alternatives at scale, which is the gap its platform is built to fill.

The leadership team draws on both wealth management and financial technology backgrounds. Co-founder and CEO Rohan Marwaha previously built technology and alternative investment solutions for major alternative asset managers. David Coyle has spent more than 25 years driving technology adoption inside advisory firms. Joe Ujobai, head of growth partnerships, brings over 35 years in financial services and technology, including leadership roles in private banking and international expansion.
