AegisAI, a cybersecurity company based in New York, has raised a $36 million Series A to counter a new wave of AI-generated email attacks. Battery Ventures led the round, which the company announced on July 23, 2026.

Accel and Foundation Capital also joined, bringing AegisAI’s total funding to $49 million. The company was founded in 2025 by Cy Khormaee and Ryan Luo, who previously worked on Google’s security team and helped build reCAPTCHA, Safe Browsing, and Web Risk. AegisAI came out of stealth in September 2025.

Its platform runs on a network of AI agents that scan incoming email for signs of phishing, business email compromise, and related threats. The company says the timing matters. According to its 2026 State of the AI Threat in Email report, AI-generated spear phishing made up 13.9 percent of observed phishing attacks in 2025, up from 2.8 percent the year before.

With the new capital, AegisAI plans to expand its lineup of autonomous detection agents, move its Vanguard agent toward general availability, and grow its enterprise sales efforts.
