Medly AI has raised $8 million in a Seed round led by Felix Capital. Eka Ventures, Ada Ventures, Andrey Dobrynin, Al Giles, Jean Hammond and Hector Mason all joined.
The company runs an AI tutor built for exam preparation, covering GCSE, IGCSE, A Level, International Baccalaureate, SATs and university courses through Medly Open. Underneath sits a proprietary combination of seven large language models, and the platform handles instant feedback, progress tracking and handwriting recognition in subjects like maths and chemistry.
Two former NHS doctors built it. Dr Paul Jung and Dr Kavi Samra are UCL medicine graduates who met at secondary school when they were 11. Both grew up in low income households and have said private tutoring was out of reach for them at school and at university, which is the gap the product is aimed at.
Traction has followed. More than 400,000 users have signed up in the country since launch, with the user base growing by almost 600 percent.
Medly operates from London. The United Kingdom is its home market, and the funding is meant to grow that student community while expanding internationally, including scaling SAT, AP and ACT preparation in the United States.
