Synthefy has raised $6.5 million in a Seed round led by Wing Venture Capital. Haystack, Samsung Next, Canonical and Lightscape joined, along with three operators worth naming: Srinivas Narayanan, former chief technology officer of applied AI at OpenAI, Aparna Chennapragada, chief product officer of experiences and devices at Microsoft, and Manohar Paluri, vice president of AI at Meta Superintelligence Labs.

Most foundation model work has gone into words and images. Synthefy is pointing the same idea at numbers, building models for structured data such as tables, transactions and signals. Customers use it for demand forecasting, price optimization, risk detection and predicting infrastructure failures, through open models, managed APIs or enterprise deployments.

At the center is Nori, an open source structured data foundation model built for numerical prediction.

Somi Agarwal, Sandeep Chinchali and Raimi Shah lead the company, which operates from Austin. Its Texas base is where the next stage of work will happen.

The money goes to hiring across research and engineering, developing the next version of Nori, and setting up industry partnerships.
