Scotch, a startup based in Denver, Colorado that builds an AI-native operating system for liquor retailers, has closed $20 million in a Series A round. The financing closed on June 4, 2026.

VMG Partners led the round, with First Round Capital, Lerer Hippeau, and Toba Capital all taking part.

The company offers an all-in-one software ecosystem for liquor retailers. That includes point-of-sale systems, payment processing, and a back-office suite designed to handle the complex, state-by-state regulations that govern the liquor industry. Scotch weaves AI directly into those back-office workflows.

Founded in 2024 by Jake Bolling and Kevin Hodges, Scotch has been growing quickly. The company reports year-over-year growth of more than 500 percent and says it has now processed over $1 billion in payment volume.

The new capital will go toward scaling the company’s engineering and sales operations across the United States, along with speeding up its product development work.
