PhoenixAI has raised $80 million in Series B funding to accelerate its AI-native database platform built for autonomous agents. The Menlo Park, California company announced the round on June 11, 2026.
The financing was led by Sky9 Capital, with additional investors including Atypical Ventures and Olive Technology Ventures. PhoenixAI, formerly known as CelerData, has rebranded around a specific bet, which is that the rise of autonomous AI agents will require a new kind of database designed expressly for them.
The company’s platform is purpose-built to give autonomous AI agents sub-second access to live enterprise data at massive scale. It does this by unifying real-time and at-rest data in a single AI-native engine, an approach meant to eliminate the delays and complexity that come from stitching together separate systems. For AI agents that need to act quickly and accurately on current information, the speed and unification PhoenixAI promises could be a meaningful advantage.
Led by President Rick Underwood, the company is targeting enterprise customers, particularly those in regulated industries where data governance is not optional. That focus shapes how the new funding will be spent. PhoenixAI plans to invest in its database infrastructure, expand its go-to-market efforts, and enhance governance features for enterprise customers operating under strict regulatory requirements.
The emphasis on governance reflects a practical reality of selling AI infrastructure to large, regulated organizations, which need assurance that their data is handled in compliant ways even as agents move faster than human operators. As enterprises experiment with deploying AI agents against their live data, the systems that store and serve that data become critical, and PhoenixAI is positioning its database as foundational to that shift.
