Odyssey, an AI lab based in Menlo Park, California, has raised a $310 million Series B round at a $1.45 billion valuation. The financing, announced on June 17, 2026, was led by Natural Capital, with participation from Amazon, AMD Ventures, GV, EQT, IQT, and others.
The company was founded by veterans of the self-driving car industry, and its existing backers read like a who’s who of the technology world. They include Jeff Dean, Google’s chief scientist; Elad Gil; Qasar Younis, co-founder and CEO of Applied Intuition; Garry Tan, president and CEO of Y Combinator; Guillermo Rauch, founder and CEO of Vercel; and Kyle Vogt, founder of Cruise.
Odyssey builds what are known as world models, AI systems designed to simulate and predict how people, objects, and environments interact with one another. The potential applications stretch across robotics, autonomous systems, science, and gaming, anywhere a machine needs to anticipate how a situation will unfold rather than simply react to it.
As part of the announcement, Odyssey unveiled a new deal with Amazon Web Services, which will become the company’s preferred cloud provider. Among other chips, Odyssey will use AWS Trainium chips, which are purpose-built for the kind of heavy computation that training world models demands.
The funding will accelerate the company’s research and the broader deployment of its world model technology. Reaching a $1.45 billion valuation places Odyssey among the more richly valued AI labs working on simulation, and the breadth of strategic investors, from Amazon to AMD, signals how much interest there is in systems that can model the physical world. With $310 million in hand, Odyssey has the resources to push that work forward at scale.
