Marker Raises $13M Seed for AI-Native Word Processor

Marker, a London company building an AI-native word processor, has emerged from stealth with $13 million in seed funding. Index Ventures led the round, with participation from LocalGlobe, Betaworks, Radical Ventures, Tiny VC and Otherwise Fund, along with angel investors behind Google Docs, Slack and Hugging Face.

Led by co-founders Jon Steinback, formerly brand and creative lead at DeepMind, and Ryan Bowman, Marker is designed to assist human authors through ideation, revision tracking and multi-user collaboration rather than writing on their behalf.

The company plans to use the funding to expand its product team, refine its writing model infrastructure and grow its base of creators and enterprise users.
