Edgify has raised $9 million in a Series A+ round led by Rank Ventures and Mangrove Capital Partners. The London company has now raised $25 million in total.
Most of the money and attention in AI right now points at data centres. Edgify is going the other direction. Its platform runs machine learning models directly on hardware retailers already own, meaning security cameras and self checkout terminals, instead of sending everything to the cloud and waiting for an answer.
Grocery has been the opening market. Computer vision running at the checkout can recognise products, flag items that were never scanned, and catch barcode switching, all of which cut into the losses supermarkets absorb at self service lanes. It is a narrow use case with a measurable payback, which tends to shorten sales cycles.
The funding is meant to speed up deployments across physical retail while the company builds its product into something broader: an infrastructure layer for managing AI models across large fleets of distributed devices. Edgify also intends to move outside retail into aviation, manufacturing and logistics.
The raise adds to a strong run for UK companies working on applied AI rather than foundation models.
