Magic Potion Games has closed a Series A round. The amount was not disclosed. Square Enix, 1AM Gaming, 1Up Ventures and Konvoy all backed the deal.
The studio operates from Kelowna, Canada, and builds safe social online worlds aimed at Gen Alpha. Its gaming platform, Imagine Island, mixes creative gameplay and shared social experiences with live moderation, COPPA compliant privacy protections and safety features built for the age group it serves, which is children between 6 and 13.
More than one million players registered during the beta period, a number that gives the company a real base to build on rather than a launch it still has to prove out.
Stephen MacDonald founded the company and serves as chief executive. The plan for the funding covers expanding the platform, launching entertainment partnerships with children’s franchises, and adding new gameplay experiences, creator tools and community events.
