Intermezzo, a global payroll infrastructure company in Menlo Park, California, has raised $10 million in a Seed round reported on September 10, 2026.
Crosslink Capital, UKG Ventures, CloudPay, Character Capital, Behind Genius Ventures, and a group of angel investors backed the company. The money will go toward expanding operations and commercial reach.
Founded by former Intuit executives Siddharth Ram, the CEO, and Kumar Ramanathan, the CTO, Intermezzo builds a payroll engine that other businesses embed in their own products. Its target customers are human capital management platforms, employer-of-record providers, and payroll bureaus, each of which gets a single interface for running payroll across countries rather than stitching together local providers by hand.
The platform uses a proprietary architecture in which AI agents read source material and turn it into structured, machine-readable payroll rules. Intermezzo operates as a white-label platform API for HCM and payroll companies. Features include a single developer sandbox for adding countries, gross-to-net calculations that account for local deductions, tax classes, and country rules, automatically generated tax forms and regulatory filings that update as rules change, on-demand payroll runs instead of fixed processing deadlines, and payslips produced through API calls that sync with a customer’s ERP. The company says it can cut a payroll processing cycle from 20 days to 24 hours with accuracy above 99 percent.
Companies that sell tools and services to HR and payroll software providers can get verified contacts at newly funded startups every week through B2B SaaS Leads.
