Looki, a wearable multimodal AI hardware company based in Toronto, Canada, has completed a Series A round of more than $20 million led by Ant Group. Meituan Dragon Pearl, Walden International and Zhongguancun Capital took part, with existing shareholder BAI Capital continuing its support.
Carnegie Mellon alumni founded the company in May 2024. Chief executive Sun Yang previously headed smart hardware at Meituan and was a founding member of Google Assistant. Chief technology officer Liu Bocong led autonomous driving algorithms at Meituan and was a founding member of Pony.ai.
Looki builds a life replay device called the L1 along with proactive AI features. The L1 launched overseas in August 2025 and reached China’s JD.com marketplace in December, priced at $199 abroad and 1,499 yuan domestically. Nearly ten thousand units have sold globally so far.
The capital will fund hiring, model iteration, product research and development, and supply chain integration as the company pushes further into AI native hardware.
