Molten Salt Solutions has closed an oversubscribed $7 million Seed round led by Dolby Family Ventures, with Vanedge Capital Partners, Alumni Ventures, Gaingels, True Ventures and Future Ventures participating.

The company operates from Santa Fe, New Mexico, and it enriches lithium isotopes for reactor developers.

Two isotopes matter here. Lithium-6 is needed in quantity by certain fusion energy systems, while lithium-7 is used in advanced molten salt fission reactors. The United States has no commercial-scale domestic production of either, which becomes a supply chain problem as reactor developers push toward commercialisation.

The company says its proprietary enrichment platform is roughly 100 times more efficient than legacy enrichment methods.

This financing carries the company from laboratory-validated technology into pilot-scale production under active customer agreements, which is the point where a materials company either scales or stalls.

The $7 million follows a $3 million pre-seed and more than $5 million in grant funding, including support through New Mexico’s Advanced Energy Award. Investor interest in nuclear energy supply chains has picked up alongside reactor development itself.
