The Farmer Companies, a Burlington, Vermont business focused on cheese based snacks, has completed a $17 million Series A round. Raff Ventures led the financing, with AJAX Capital Partners taking part, and the company announced it on July 30, 2026.
Alongside the raise, the company named Randy Johnson as chief executive. He succeeds founder Adam Farmer, who moves into the role of chairman. Johnson previously ran Dot’s Pretzels, which he grew from $19 million to $250 million in annual sales within three years before Hershey acquired it in 2021 for $1.2 billion.
The Farmer Companies operates as a consumer packaged goods platform and brand builder, with national distribution across United States food retail and a footprint spanning North America. Its portfolio includes owned and licensed brands such as WHISPS Cheese Crisps and Cabot Creamery Popcorn.
The company plans to use the new money to widen its national distribution, pursue strategic acquisitions and scale its manufacturing network across North America. Its stated goal is to become the leading premium cheese snacking company in the region.
