Elio Labs, an AI hardware company based in San Mateo, California, has raised a $21 million seed round to build sensors made for machines rather than the human eye. Innovation Endeavors and Xora led the round, which the company announced on July 23, 2026.
Kevin Weil and Scribble VC also took part, and existing investors UpWest and Resolute Ventures, who led the company’s previous round, continued their support.
Elio designs sensors that let an AI system decide what to capture in real time, based on what it is trying to work out. Instead of recording a fixed image to be interpreted later, the approach aims to deliver the exact information a model needs at the moment it needs it.
The founding team previously helped build Pebbles Interfaces, which Meta acquired, and later worked on the physical-sensing stack behind Meta’s AR and VR headsets.
