Rainmaker has raised $100 million in Series B funding. NOA VC, Upfront Ventures, DCVC, Lowercarbon Capital and Dream Ventures are among the investors backing the round, which the company announced on September 21, 2026.

Rainmaker Technology Corporation is based in El Segundo, California. It uses cloud seeding to increase freshwater supply for farms, ecosystems, communities and industry, and it describes water as the first step in a broader goal of making more land habitable.

Earlier this year, Rainmaker says it became the first private company to clearly show it could produce rain, snow and freshwater at scale through glaciogenic cloud seeding. It generated more than 145 million verified gallons of precipitation over four months, which the company puts at close to the annual water demand of 1,800 American households. During a summer research program near Homer, Alaska, one operation produced 19 million gallons in three hours.

The new money will go toward aggressive hiring and a much larger research organization. Rainmaker wants to build a leading atmospheric science lab focused on weather modification, bring in top specialists, support researchers at existing national labs and help train the next generation of postgraduate researchers at American universities. Its current team already includes atmospheric scientists, chemists, aerosol researchers, radar and satellite specialists and meteorologists.

The company says its internal cost per acre-foot falls quickly as output grows, and a single drone-operator team is only part of the picture, since more teams can run in parallel. For the November 2026 to April 2027 season, Rainmaker expects its cost per acre-foot to undercut most, if not all, other sources of incremental water in the Colorado River Basin, including desalination and fallowing. Augustus Doricko is founder and CEO.
