Pilot Protocol, a San Francisco company building network infrastructure for AI agents, has launched from stealth with $4.5 million in seed funding. Version One Ventures led the round, which was announced on July 27, 2026.

Precursor Ventures, Night Capital and Todd & Rahul Capital also took part, along with angel investors Lenny Rachitsky and Ben Tossell. Pilot Protocol describes its product as the internet for agents, a communications and commerce network that lets AI agents find one another, verify identities, talk and transact without a human stepping in.

The early usage stands out. Roughly 250,000 AI agents joined before the company left stealth, and the network now handles about two billion requests per day.

Pilot Protocol plans to use the money to expand its network infrastructure, grow its developer ecosystem and build out its commerce features.
