Kita Raises $4.5M Seed for AI Lending Document Intelligence

Kita has raised a $4.5 million Seed round led by BoxGroup, with Y Combinator also taking part.

The software reads the documents lenders actually receive: bank statements, e-wallet records, payslips and invoices. Work that used to take days or months now finishes in under 60 seconds. The company works with banks but stops short of automating the decision itself, leaving the final credit call with human teams.

Lenders in the Philippines, Indonesia, Mexico and the United States are already using it, across consumer, microfinance and SME lending. More than $130 million in loan volume has run through the platform for lenders in the United States, Southeast Asia and Latin America.

The company was co-founded by a Filipino founder and operates from San Francisco, which makes the California base a long way from most of its customers.
