Dogtooth Technologies, a Cambridge company that builds fruit-harvesting robots, has raised more than £14 million in a Series B round that combines equity, grants and a venture leasing facility. The equity came from 24 Haymarket, EMV Capital and ACF Investors, with grants from Innovate UK and a leasing facility from Kineo Finance.
Founded in 2014, Dogtooth develops embodied systems that use computer vision, AI and robotic manipulation to move through growing environments, spot ripe fruit and pick delicate crops without bruising them. Its robots are already deployed commercially, including a recent delivery to Dyson Farming.
The funding will expand deployments in the UK and international markets as growers turn to automation to cope with seasonal labour shortages and rising costs.
