Baz, a company based in Boston, Massachusetts, has raised $9 million in an extension to its seed round, bringing total funding to $17 million. The round was co-led by existing investors Battery Ventures and Boldstart Ventures, with new backers AFG Partners and Disruptive VC also joining.

Founded by Bridgecrew founder Guy Eisenkot, Baz builds an agentic AI coding platform. Its work has centered on automated code review, and the company is now moving that further upstream with a new product called Baz Planner.

Baz Planner, which debuted at the AI Engineer World’s Fair in San Francisco, shifts engineering work from reviewing code after it is written to shaping how it gets planned in the first place. The company says the goal is to help teams remove whole classes of bugs and vulnerabilities before they are ever coded.

The raise reflects intensifying competition among startups building AI tools for software engineering.
