Applied Computing Raises $20M Series A for Energy AI

Applied Computing, a London company in England building a foundation model for energy operations, has raised roughly £15 million, equivalent to €17.4 million or about $20 million. The engineering group KBR led the Series A, with Databricks Ventures coming in as a new investor.

The round follows a £9 million seed, worth around $10.7 million, that closed in May 2025 under the lead of Stride.VC alongside Repeat.vc.

Callum Adamson and Dr. Sam Tukra founded the Imperial College spinout in 2023. Its flagship product, the Orbital platform, pairs AI with physics based models to optimise energy operations, including work inside refineries.

The money funds expansion into the United States through a new office in Houston, together with deeper investment in AI research.
