Adjuvia Therapeutics, a San Francisco company developing treatments for mitochondrial disease, has closed an $8 million seed round. JLO Ventures led the financing, which was announced on July 28, 2026.
Portfolia Ventures also took part, along with a group of biopharmaceutical industry veterans. Founded in 2023, the biotech is building oral therapies designed to repair mitochondrial damage by tackling oxidative stress, chronic inflammation and organ degeneration at the same time.
The new funding is earmarked for the company’s lead candidate, ATI-105. Adjuvia plans to file an investigational new drug application for it later this summer, then start a Phase 1 trial in healthy volunteers in the fall of 2026. A Phase 1/2 study in patients with Friedreich’s ataxia is slated for early 2027.
