Thea Energy, Inc. announced on August 18, 2026 that it has closed an extension of its Series B funding. Brevan Howard Macro Venture, Aloniq, ALJ Investments and Beyond Earth Ventures provided additional support, along with other global strategic investors.

The company had previously announced a $100 million raise led by the US Innovative Technology Fund, the vehicle run by Thomas Tull. That money went toward scaling magnet manufacturing capacity, building a second facility in Northern New Jersey, speeding up construction of the integrated fusion system known as Eos, and moving toward commercial deployment of the first Helios power plants.

Thea is commercializing the stellarator, a mature magnetic confinement fusion architecture, using arrays of mass manufacturable magnets and dynamic software controls. The Helios preconceptual design is the most mature stellarator power plant architecture anywhere, and the Department of Energy recently certified it as part of the Milestone-Based Fusion Development Program.

Three months on from the original Series B, the company has collected a $20 million ARPA-E SCALEUP award to expand domestic production lines of modular high temperature superconducting magnets, launched a stellarator digital twin collaboration with NVIDIA, Synopsys, Argonne National Laboratory and Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory, confirmed that its Eos specification magnets hit the required field strengths and precision, evaluated multiple potential sites for Eos, and opened talks with power offtakers, hyperscalers and utility partners.

Thea spun out of Princeton University and Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory in 2022 and operates from Kearny. Its New Jersey base is also where the second manufacturing facility will go.

The team is growing fast enough that the company expects to double headcount by year end, which makes hiring one of the more visible parts of this next phase.
