Ampaire has closed a $19 million Series B led by DiamondStream Partners. International Airlines Group and Alaska Airlines both backed the round, which brings total funding at the company to $68 million.
Two airlines on the cap table is the detail worth pausing on. These are the operators who would eventually buy the product, and their money says something about how seriously the regional fleet market is treating hybrid propulsion.
Ampaire builds integrated parallel hybrid electric powertrains. The system is being retrofitted into Cessna Grand Caravan aircraft, cutting fuel consumption in half, and the resulting aircraft is called the Eco Caravan.
Certification is the gating item. The company is targeting Part 33 engine certification in late 2027, followed by Part 23 supplemental type certification in the Cessna Caravan.
The business operates from Long Beach, and its California facility is where the aviation engineering work happens. New capital goes toward commercializing the technology and expanding supply chain, manufacturing and operating capabilities.
