Runpod, the company behind a cloud platform built specifically for AI developers, has secured $100 million in a Series A round that values the business at $1.0 billion. Headquartered in Mount Laurel, New Jersey, the company gives engineers a single place to train, fine-tune, and deploy artificial intelligence models.
The financing was led by Summit Partners, a growth-focused investment firm. No other investors were named as participants in the round.
Runpod’s pitch centers on simplicity. Rather than stitching together several tools, developers can sign up and run a workload from one self-serve cloud, with per-second pricing meant to keep costs transparent. The platform handles everything from a first experiment to production-level traffic. More than one million developers now build on it, and its serverless system has processed over 20 billion inference requests to date.
The company reports that the median time from sign-up to a first running workload is under an hour, that more than 90 percent of deployments succeed on the first attempt, and that 85 percent of developers who deploy come back to build again.
With the new capital, Runpod intends to keep building out its full lifecycle AI platform, grow its engineering and developer relations teams, and widen global access for its user base. The company also turned down buyout offers above $500 million, choosing instead to raise equity and stay independent. Its total funding now stands at $122 million, including an earlier seed round.
