Mundo AI has announced a $20 million Series A led by GreatPoint Ventures. The company also disclosed a previously unannounced $4 million seed alongside it, putting total funding at $24 million.
Mundo is a Y Combinator W25 company operating from San Francisco. From that base in California, it describes what it is building as the data layer for perceptual intelligence. Augment Ventures, Broadshade Investments, N1 in Prague and Y Combinator are among its backers.
The work is less about models than about what models are fed. Mundo partners with frontier AI labs and companies to build the datasets, evaluations and applied research that help systems perceive and understand their surroundings across audio, video and newer modalities.
Part of that effort involves multilingual training data collected with native speakers, aimed at the gap in non English material that limits how well models perform outside a handful of dominant languages. It is an unglamorous corner of the field, and one that a growing number of labs are willing to pay for.
