Aviva, a fintech based in Mexico City, has raised $18 million in a Series A round, its largest to date, led by Valor Capital Group. IDB Lab, Caravela Capital and Endeavor Forward joined, along with existing backers Wollef Ventures, IGNIA, Krealo and Newtopia VC.
Founded in 2022 by four former Konfío employees, Aviva offers loans of $100 to $1,000 to people and small businesses in Mexico’s informal economy, mostly in towns outside the major metro areas. Applications happen over video calls with a bot at physical kiosks and are processed in minutes using models that weigh behavioural and identity signals.
The company operates in more than 300 small and mid-sized cities across 23 of Mexico’s 32 states and says over 300,000 people have completed its kiosk process. With the new capital, Aviva plans to reach 1,000 locations, broaden its product lineup and grow its technology teams.
