N-Power Medicine has closed a $32 million Series B financing. Labcorp Venture Fund came in as a new strategic investor, alongside continued participation from Merck Global Health Innovation Fund, Innovatus Capital Partners and a leading US biotech investor.
The company operates from Redwood City, California, and it is trying to change where cancer trials happen.
Its core product is the Prospective External Control Arm, or ProECA. These are standalone, prospective, trial-grade external control arms generated inside routine care. The effect is smaller, faster trials with less reliance on randomisation, which cuts enrolment requirements, shortens timelines and lowers development costs while letting more patients take part in cancer research.
That last point is the one community oncologists tend to care about. Most cancer patients are treated outside academic centres, and most trials are not.
The money scales the community oncology research network, deepens pharma partnerships and funds product development, including extending ProECA programmes into colorectal and prostate cancer.
Labcorp’s investment is the second from a healthcare industry leader after Merck GHI, which is a useful signal for a company whose customers are drug developers.
