NewDays has added $4.5 million to its Seed round, bringing total funding to $11.5 million after a previously announced $7 million investment. Madrona Venture Group and General Catalyst are early backers.
The company is based in Seattle, and it treats people with mild dementia using a generative AI therapy.
The care model mixes people and software. Patients get telehealth visits with clinicians once or twice a month, plus frequent personalised conversations with an AI companion called Sunny. Those AI-led conversations deliver specific therapies: cognitive stimulation, cognitive training and cognitive rehabilitation.
The business model is unusual for a healthcare company at this stage. NewDays charges a $99 monthly subscription and also accepts health insurance, and it says it is generating revenue.
Babak Parviz is co-founder and chief executive. He launched the company with Chief Innovation Officer Daniel Kelly.
Cognitive decline is one of the few conditions where more frequent, lower-cost contact plausibly changes outcomes, which is the bet the Washington company is making.
