Scaled Cognition, an AI company based in Amesbury, Massachusetts, has raised $100 million in Series A funding led by Khosla Ventures, with participation from Genesys. The round closed on June 25, 2026, and the company carries a post-money valuation of roughly $750 million.
The company is built around one of the hardest problems in modern AI, which is reliability. Today’s systems are highly capable but still prone to mistakes and hallucinations, and those errors limit how far AI can be trusted inside critical business processes.
Scaled Cognition’s first flagship model is APT, short for Agentic Pretrained Transformer. The company says it delivers the conversational quality of leading AI models while removing hallucinations and guaranteeing that responses stay within set policies.
The business was co-founded by chief technology officer Dan Klein, a UC Berkeley professor and natural language processing researcher, and chief executive Dan Roth. The pair previously built and sold one of the earliest agentic AI companies to Microsoft.
The new funding will go toward expanding the research team and speeding up enterprise deployments. Scaled Cognition is already in production with Fortune 500 customers across financial services, healthcare, telecom, and insurance, settings where a wrong answer carries real consequences.
