Rime Raises $24M Series A for Enterprise Voice AI

Rime, a voice AI company based in San Francisco, California, has raised $24 million in a Series A led by M13 Ventures. Twilio Ventures, Corazon Capital, Unusual Ventures and other existing investors also participated.

Lily Clifford, a former Stanford PhD student, founded the company in 2022 with Brooke Larson, an ex Amazon Alexa engineer, and Stanford engineer Ares Geovanos. Its differentiator is training voice models on conversational data the company records itself, which is meant to cut down how much customisation clients have to do on their end.

Rime now handles more than 100 million calls a month across its customer base, with enterprise contracts including Mayo Clinic, Dialpad, Upstart and Asurion.

The company recently hired Rafael Valle as chief scientist. He previously worked on audio understanding at Meta Superintelligence Labs and on Nvidia’s applied deep learning audio research team. With the new funding, Rime plans to grow its team of 35, hiring across model development, engineering and partnerships.
