Pramaana Labs, an AI company based in San Francisco, California, has raised a $27 million Seed round led by Khosla Ventures. The round also drew Founders Future, Accel, Boldcap, Nexus Venture Partners, Premji Invest, and Unbound. The company is building what it describes as a verification layer for artificial intelligence.
The idea behind Pramaana is to give AI a way to prove that its answers are correct rather than merely probable. The company was co-founded by CEO Ranjan Rajagopalan, Krishnan Raghavan, and Sanjay Ganapathy Subramaniam. Its product is an AI-native decision compiler and proof engine that translates complex regulatory frameworks, things like tax codes, legal statutes, and clinical protocols, into formal mathematical languages. From there it can verify, check, and certify the correctness of outputs generated by large language models before those outputs are ever acted on.
The company is aiming at fields where mistakes carry real consequences: law, drug discovery, and tax preparation. In those areas a single wrong answer can trigger sanctions or malpractice exposure, and the tolerance for error is close to zero. Pramaana plans to deploy the LEAN proof assistant across those domains, where hallucination rates on certain queries run extraordinarily high.
The funding will go toward building out the company’s auto-formalization software infrastructure, scaling its formal verification proof engine, and hiring more research engineering talent from leading AI laboratories.
As AI moves into regulated, high-stakes work, the question of whether its outputs can be trusted grows more pressing. Pramaana is betting that mathematical proof, not just statistical confidence, is what those industries will require, and it now has $27 million to build toward that.
