Neion Bio has closed an oversubscribed $23 million Series A financing to advance its biologics manufacturing platform and grow its product pipeline. The company, based in Yorkshire, New York, announced the round on June 11, 2026.
The financing was led by Caffeinated Capital, an early investor in the company, with participation from new backers including Basis Set Ventures. The raise comes only months after Neion Bio emerged from stealth in March 2026, a quick turnaround that points to strong investor interest in what the company is building.
Neion Bio’s approach is unusual. The company uses frontier genetic engineering to turn chicken eggs into medicine factories, effectively repurposing a familiar biological system to produce proteins and other biologics. If it works at scale, the method could offer a different path for manufacturing the kinds of complex molecules that underpin modern medicine.
The company is led by a team with deep scientific roots, including Dr. James Kehler as Head of Avian Sciences, Dimi Kellari as co-founder and CEO, Dr. Sam Levin as co-founder and CTO, Ming Li as President of Commercial Operations, and Dr. Sven Bocklandt as CSO. The breadth of that leadership, spanning avian science, commercial operations and technology, reflects the company’s effort to move from a novel idea toward a working manufacturing business.
With the new capital, Neion Bio plans to further develop its platform and expand its pipeline of products. The oversubscribed nature of the round suggests the company had little trouble attracting capital, and the challenge now shifts to proving that its egg-based manufacturing can deliver biologics reliably and at the volumes the industry demands.
