KaliVir Immunotherapeutics has closed a $14 million extension to its Series A financing, bringing the total raised in that round to $25 million.

Company K Partners led the extension, with SV Investment and Flexus Partners joining. Existing investors stayed in as well, among them affiliates of Nextrans and Quad Investment Management.

KaliVir is a clinical stage biotech working on next generation oncolytic immunotherapies. Its approach uses the vaccinia platform, engineering optimized viral backbones into candidates aimed at treating cancer.

The new money goes to the lead clinical program, VET3-TGI. That includes patient enrollment in the STEALTH-001 Phase 1/1b trial in people with advanced solid tumors, plus general corporate purposes. The extension also strengthens the balance sheet as that trial progresses.

The company is based in Pittsburgh. That puts the company in Pennsylvania, where it has been headquartered.
